June 26th, 2012

Today was as rough of a day as I've ever had.  Despite a day at 6 Flags with some good friends, my mind never veered far from where I left it last night.  My mind is still in a very bad place and as of now, still have very little hope.  The only thing that has kept me going is this promise to my friend that i will take this trip somewhere in the world to take some time to myself and do some soul-searching and just see how i feel when I get back. It amazed me tho, that I could not get my mind to clear, to stop thinking about either her, or all of the other issues I've been facing... 200 feet...

6/25/2012

Today has been the absolute hardest day of my life and feel short of the goals I set for myself today.  The stress and prospect of doing a few things to try and remind Hannah of how much she means, and then having the fall apart before they came to fruition, it was enough for me to just completely collapse. Had a total breakdown this morning just because I couldn't find a single sheet of paper for a job I needed to bid.  Totally snapped.  Finally got it together and figured out what I needed to.  Went back to those errands and kept myself busy with hope.  As I made it to the gym, I ran into...

21. Fix up an old car

I literally know next to nothing about cars in general, but I know the classics are a thing of beauty.  A fully restored classic vehicle is like nothing else.  I had a 99' Pontiac Firebird, and it really got me interested in cars.  If I had money, and a lot of free time, a classic car collection would be something I'd love to spend my time doing.  hire a personal mechanic to show me the ins and outs of what to do, buy a few beat up classics, and just go to work. No clue why, but the moment I saw the 65' Continental with the suicide doors in the opening scene of Entourage, I wanted it. ...

19. Go Into Space

I like to think, and hope, that most people have the dream of travel and adventure and that space would be an absolutely amazing place to go.  It's beckoned man for ages and many of the ancient religions and cultures were based around the constellations, with many of them believing their Gods, and even our ancestors, came from space. I'm the type that, if given the opportunity, would travel to Mars, or any other distant planet, even if it was a 1-way ticket.  I've always wanted to get married and have kids, but as of now, neither are in the works, and an opportunity like that is something...

78. Curl 135

Although this isn't exactly the wildest or deepest of adventures, but I recall seeing a picture of Alonzo Mourning on the cover of some magazine curling 135 on a straight bar, and I remember thinking, that is something that I always thought was impossible... I want to do that! To anyone not familiar with working out, curling 135 is an insanely difficult task.  Putting on 95 pounds is enough to get attention in the gym, but when my workout partner and I got to that point, I remember seeing half the gym stop and watch us.  I believe my greatest rep count was right at 4, maybe 6 with a spot. ...

81. Eat an insect

I never understood why western culture was so opposed to eating things that are ordinary to people in the rest of the world.  The show Bizarre Foods really opened my eyes to what I had been missing out on, and for whatever reason, eating something that instills fear in most people has been way up the list. Although an ant is technically an insect, I won't consider this one fully completed until I have downed a grasshopper, tarantula, scorpion and at least 1 other insect, preferably a witchetty grub from Australia.  But... I have eaten a few ants while in Australia, and they were a bit different. ...

73. Crabbing

I remember walking the beach as a kid, and always having this urge to grab one of the lines on the beach that went way out into the water as a crab or lobster trap.  Even before I was into fresh and healthy food, the idea of eating a freshly caught crab or lobster seemed like an absolutely amazing treat!  On plenty of outings, I would beg my father to let us pull up a trap and take just 1 of the crustaceans out, that no one would ever know, but the answer was always the same... An emphatic, 'No!' So, finally when I moved to Australia, Larry, a teammate and a friend who eventually let me live...

23. Bench 365

Fitness has turned into a huge part of my life.  I grew up a skinny little nerd and once I found working out, my life changed forever.  Changed my outlook on basketball and made my career possible.  At my absolute biggest, I was 238 and benching 125# dumb bells for 8 and 340 on bench press.  My joints hurt, my body ached and my food bill was through the roof.  I've always refused to take any illegal steroids and it seemed impossible for me to get any bigger or stronger.  After recovering from another injury, I'm back in pursuit of this goal.  Back to benching around 335 but as any athlete...

52. Coconut

I love watching the survivor shows or scenes in movies where they land on a deserted island and have to find food and water, and inevitable, they all turn to the coconut.  Last thing I want is a scene out of Castaway where I try and open one up, only to slice my hand wide open... Same story as the one with the mango.  Neighbor had a few palm trees, not to mention the plethora of them at the beach.  I've always hated coconut with a passion, but it always seemed so interesting and worth knowing, so I made sure to learn.  I had seen them do it on several shows, so I had an inkling.  After...

59. Grow a Beard

Although growing a beard doesn't seem like a bucketlist-type item, it's something I always wanted to do.  Often, in any line of work, your image is a huge part, and a big beard is often considered unsightly.  Regardless... Australia had Movember where you grow a beard for cancer awareness.  I was already contemplating the idea, not to mention I absolutely hate shaving and have only been clean-shaven maybe 3 times in the past 5 years, so... This was an easy one.  It was a tad annoying tho, as it was boiling everyday and the beard seemed to retain the heat!  I believe I went a total of roughly...
